Our Story
Randy
and Joni Hamson purchased the property the fall of 1989;
their oldest daughter was born September 1990 and the
second daughter born July 1992. This unique property
allowed many good wholesome memories over the growing
years of these two wonderful now, grown ladies.
From splashing in the mud puddles, building forts in
the woods, raising rabbits, ducks, and kittens to helping
with the elk and hunting whitetail deer in heated stands
their father built for them…many good fond memories.
The time came for the first daughter to get married
and we as a family looked around for an affordable venue.
The decision was to marry in the home town church of
St Francis, Brainerd and host the reception and dance
in our shed. It was a very rainy, wet, chilly
day which did not dampen the spirits of the party.
A great time was had by all.
Two years later, our second daughter’s best friend
asked if we’d host her wedding. This best
friend was like our third daughter and of course, the
answer was “Yes!”. The whole event
was wonderful with the ceremony, reception, and dance
all being held here at Stoney Hills. Their family
was spread across the United States and relatives flew
into Brainerd to attend the festivities.
This brings us to today, where the family made the decision
to design and build a timber frame barn designed for
weddings and events. We wanted to capture the
many unique features Stoney Hills has to offer; the
rolling hills, the gentle breezes, the country rustic
vintage yet upscale Barn, for a wedding ceremony or
reception where you and your guests can really relax
and enjoy each other’s company and make many memories.
